He received the Bachelor degree in Physics Engineering
from the Instituto Tecnológico y
de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in 1994.
He joined the MS program at the Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica Óptica y
Electrónica in 1997 where he obtained the MS degree in 1999.
During this period, he studied dipole radiation in
periodic structures under the direction of Prof. Peter Halevi.
He continued his graduate studies at the University of
Rochester from fall 1999 to Spring 2005. His
PhD research focused on deterministic and
stochastic electromagnetic interaction
with nanoscale structures and it was supervised by
Prof. Lukas Novotny. In the Spring 2005, he began a 15-month postdoctoral stay
at the Universität Potsdam in the group of Prof. Carsten Henkel where
he collaborated in the European Union project QUELE devoted to quantum
applications of trapped electrons. In 2007 he joined the Instituto Nacional de
Astrofísica Óptica y Electrónica through the repatriation
program of the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología.
