A chartered engineer with over 30 years of semiconductor industry experience, Colin serves as the administrator and coordinator of Silvaco’s interaction with Si2, making sure Silvaco is visible and heard as well as helping Silvaco contribute to the chip design industry’s needs. As part of this professional interaction with all the major players in this environment he maintains the Licenses relevant to the different user contributions and the silvaco accounts for silvaco users to get the maximum benefit of being part of this wider organization. This allows Silavco to be part of the evolving future needs and get early access to this information to gain competitor advantage over non-Si2 members. He is also chair of six Si2 Compact Model Coalition working groups and co-chair of 2 other working groups. Recently this has lead to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) interactions to further expand Silvaco products.

His expertise includes the production and development of device processes for silicon, SOI (silicon on Sapphire, BSOI etc.), and III-V compounds, as well as device and circuit design covering test structures, SRAM, IGBT, CCD, Bolometer, Infra-Red detectors and SAW filters for both normal and Radiation environments. In a previous company was the site coordinate for TCAD simulations for power and MOS devices.

“Colin has been a driving force within CMC since its integration with Si2 in 2013,” said John Ellis, Si2 president and CEO. “From leading the working group that created an open, industry-standard model simulator interface, to chairing our two recent gallium nitride and silicon carbide efforts, he has been a consistent coalition leader and team player. This combination of vision and commitment makes Colin truly deserving of the Si2 Pinnacle Award.”

Colin presents at the quarterly CMC meetings on the Workgroup progress and adoption of the models in EDA software Silvaco delivers to it’s design customers.
